From a $1,000 loan to 30 billion+ streams.

An independent music company built from one teenager’s belief that instrumental music could meet people exactly where they were.

Independent music,
built by instinct.

Fireheart Music is an independent record label and production company representing a focused collective of 20 composers and musicians. Together, they create instrumental music for relaxation, wellness and mindfulness through a carefully developed family of artist identities.

The catalog spans sleep, baby lullabies, spa and massage, study and focus, meditation, yoga, stress relief, binaural beats, EMDR-informed music and solfeggio frequencies. Founded by award-winning composer, pianist and recording artist Jeffrey Michael Deary, Fireheart has sold more than two million albums and downloads and generated over 30 billion streams worldwide.

Available across Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music and other major platforms, Fireheart has grown from one teenager’s piano recordings into a global independent music company without losing the personal creative instinct that began it.

Jeffrey Michael Deary

Early Years - A piano not to touch!

A musical instinct

Born and raised in Sterling Heights, Michigan, Jeffrey Michael Deary’s fascination with music began early. After his great grandmother passed away, her piano was willed to Jeffrey’s mother, with six year old Jeffrey told not to touch it.

But after listening to a babysitter play, Jeffrey began sneaking onto the piano and teaching himself by ear. At just six years old, he learned to play Vangelis’ “Chariots of Fire” without lessons or formal training.

By eleven, Jeffrey was composing his own music, even developing a personal shorthand to capture his compositions before he could read traditional notation.

The piano he wasn’t supposed to touch became the beginning of a lifelong career in music.

1994–1997

$1,000, 8,000 cassettes and the beginning of Fireheart

At fifteen, Jeffrey borrowed $1,000 from his father to professionally record his original piano compositions.

He marketed the recordings to classmates as “Studying Music,” and within two weeks had sold enough copies to repay the loan.

Jeffrey continued recording and selling his music throughout high school. By graduation, he had sold approximately 8,000 cassettes, establishing the beginnings of what would become Fireheart Music.

It also taught him a lesson that would remain central to the company decades later: understand what listeners want and find a direct way to reach them.

1997–2003

From Michigan to a national audience

Jeffrey studied business and music technology while building his career independently as a composer and recording artist.

He toured the country performing at Borders and Barnes & Noble stores, concerts, private events and major art festivals, selling his original piano music directly to listeners.

His catalog grew with albums including Inspirations, Winter Spirits, Reflections, Kaleidoscope, After the Storm and Awakening.

At the same time, Jeffrey's childhood fascination with movies and film scores led him to begin composing for student and independent productions in Michigan.

2003

A different path to film scoring

While exploring formal training in film composition, Jeffrey was offered an opportunity to study composition at Berklee College of Music. There was one unusual obstacle: despite years of composing and performing entirely by ear, Jeffrey still couldn’t read traditional musical notation.

A Berklee film scoring instructor encouraged him not to let that stop him and instead to begin gaining real world experience. Jeffrey followed that advice, pursuing opportunities to score student and independent films, a step that helped set the stage for his eventual move to Los Angeles and career composing music for film, television and other visual media.

2003–2011

Disruption creates an opportunity

The arrival of iTunes, MP3 downloads and digital music dramatically changed Jeffrey's business.

His career had been built largely around physical CD sales, but consumers were rapidly changing how they purchased and discovered music. As CD sales declined, Jeffrey began studying how people were actually using music in the emerging digital marketplace.

He thought back to the thousands of listeners he had met while performing at art festivals. Fans had repeatedly told him:

“Your music puts my baby to sleep.”

“I use your music for massage.”

“Your music is great for stress relief.”

Jeffrey realized those listeners had been giving him valuable information all along. They weren't simply telling him what music they liked, they were telling him why they listened to it.

He began repositioning his music around those lifestyle moments: music to sleep, relax, meditate, study, practice yoga, receive a massage or calm a baby.

That realization would ultimately redefine Fireheart Music.

2006

Los Angeles and music for picture

In 2006, Jeffrey relocated to Los Angeles and expanded his career into film, television, movie trailers, advertising, interactive entertainment and video games.

His music would ultimately appear across more than 150 film, television, trailer and video game projects, with credits and placements including Call of Duty: Black Ops III and Black Ops IV, JAWS Unleashed, London Has Fallen, The Girl on the Train trailer, Jumanji: The Next Level trailer, Magnum P.I., The White Lotus, The Twilight Zone, Saturday Night Live, The Flash, The Bachelor and The Bachelorette.

2011

The pivot that changed Fireheart

In 2011, Jeffrey thought back to the thousands of listeners he had met while performing at art festivals. Again and again, fans had told him:

“Your music puts my baby to sleep.”

“I use your music for massage.”

“Your music is great for stress relief.”

Jeffrey realized they had been telling him something important all along, not just what they listened to, but why they listened.

He began repositioning his music around these lifestyle moments: sleep, relaxation, massage, meditation, yoga, studying, stress relief and baby lullabies. Soon, Fireheart was creating albums specifically for these uses.

Jeffrey rebranded Fireheart Music around relaxation and wellness, shifting from a traditional artist driven label toward a digital catalog built around the needs and everyday moments of the listener.

The philosophy was simple:

Don’t just understand what people want to hear. Understand why they want to hear it.

That 2011 pivot laid the foundation for the Fireheart Music of today.

2014

Fireheart becomes a multi artist label

In 2014, Jeffrey expanded Fireheart beyond his own recordings by signing the label's first artist: his friend and musical colleague, virtuoso guitarist Aragorn Wiederhold.

The signing marked another important transformation. Fireheart was no longer simply a home for Jeffrey's music; it was becoming a multi artist independent record label.

Jeffrey began assembling a family of composers, musicians and artist identities, each with distinct sounds and audiences across the growing relaxation and wellness market.

2016–2021

Building Fireheart to scale

One of the most important additions to Fireheart during this period was Jeff Ball, who worked closely alongside Jeffrey and played an integral role in the company's next stage of growth.

Together, Jeffrey Deary and Jeff Ball helped build many of the creative and operational foundations that allowed Fireheart Music to scale.

Fireheart expanded its roster, developed new artist identities and musical concepts, dramatically increased the depth and diversity of its catalog and created a repeatable model for producing high quality music for a growing global streaming audience.

By the end of this period, the boutique label Jeffrey had started around his own piano music had been transformed into a scalable music company positioned for worldwide growth.

2021–2023

From millions of sales to billions of streams

By the early 2020s, streaming had become the dominant way people consumed music, and Fireheart was built for it.

The catalog Jeffrey had spent a decade developing was reaching listeners around the world through Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Pandora and other major platforms.

The same digital transformation that had once threatened Jeffrey's CD business had ultimately created the platform for Fireheart's greatest period of growth.

What began as music sold one cassette at a time could now reach millions of listeners around the world every day.

2023

Expanding beyond music

After decades of telling stories through music, Jeffrey founded Fireheart Entertainment, expanding his creative and entrepreneurial work into independent film and television.

The company brought together his experience in composition, screenwriting, storytelling, financing and production, allowing Jeffrey to move from creating music for stories to helping develop and produce the stories themselves.

2023–Today

Film and television

Fireheart Entertainment has quickly built a growing slate of independent film and television projects.

Jeffrey's executive producer credits include the upcoming Parish, starring Nicolas Cage; Solo Mio, starring Kevin James and Alyson Hannigan; The Revisionist, starring Dustin Hoffman, Alison Brie and André Holland; Love, Brooklyn; Break the Cycle; and Devoted.

Love, Brooklyn premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, while The Revisionist premiered at the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival, marking significant milestones in Fireheart's expansion into independent filmmaking.

Today

From a $1,000 loan to more than 30 billion streams

More than three decades after a fifteen year old Jeffrey borrowed $1,000 from his father, Fireheart has grown into an independent entertainment company spanning recorded music, composition, music licensing, film and television.

Fireheart Music today works with approximately 20 composers and musicians, creating through a broad family of artist identities and a catalog of more than 8,000 albums and compilations.

Across Jeffrey's career and the Fireheart catalog, the music has generated more than two million CD and download sales and surpassed 30 billion online streams worldwide.

The journey has crossed virtually every era of the modern music business:

Cassettes. CDs. MP3s. Downloads. Streaming.

The $1,000 loan in 1994 started the company. The collapse of the physical music business forced Jeffrey to rethink it. The 2011 pivot gave Fireheart its focus. The 2014 signing of Aragorn Wiederhold began its evolution into a multi artist label. The work of Jeffrey and Jeff Ball from 2016–2021 helped build the infrastructure to scale it. And global streaming gave Fireheart the ability to reach listeners at a scale that would have been unimaginable when Jeffrey was selling cassettes to his classmates.

Today, Fireheart Music has grown into a global independent force in relaxation and wellness music, while Fireheart Entertainment carries Jeffrey's creative vision into film and television.

Through every stage, the underlying idea has remained remarkably consistent:

Understand the listener. Understand the moment. Create something meaningful for it, and find a way to reach them.
